My ancestry is strongly Scottish and my mother hated waste. She always took her own reusable bags to shop, we had metal picnic cutlery and plates, she cooked from scratch, we never used straws to drink and she loathed plastic and synthetic fabrics.
that scene from THE GRADUATE — I remember how we laughed in 1967 at that square man giving that square advice. never did I dream what plastic would become.
Interesting how these things get embedded into the public consciousness through movies. I recently watched a movie where vaccines were mentioned in a line of dialogue, reinforcing the notion of "safe & effective". In a similar way, in the early 90's movie Lorenzo's Oil (worth seeing), there's a line about laetrile being a scam (which is not true) which reinforces the view that alternative cancer treatments are quackery.
I'm always expecting movies to deliver relevance, or critique. 99% merely twist surface resemblances. the "plastic" line parodied what we called The Establishment, what we now call the Corporate State, or Technocracy, without articulating that toxicity in all its details. the young sense the evil and attempt to flee it. or subvert it. which, I guess, is what Benjamin did in THE GRADUATE. apparently, the novel's author spent his life in flight.
Nice to see an article that provides some hope at the end. I'd add using glass, ceramic or metal food storage containers rather than plastic.
I'd also mention that everything plastic could be replaced by hemp. We all know how it was thwarted by corporate forces in the early to mid twentieth century. Reefer madness & all that nonsense. But if it was all replaced, what would happen to all the petrochemicals used in plastic manufacturing? Where would it end up? Would they be repurposed in some other way to poison humanity? Like they repurposed industrial toxic waste into fluoridated water supplies.
There was an English inventor called Harry Oldfield. He was a genius. Back in the 1980s, he painstakingly bred bacteria in his backyard that could eat certain types of plastic. They produced waste which Harry used as fertilizer in his garden. I note with interest a recent scientific article talking about the promise of genetically engineered bacteria to do exactly this. In my opinion, the way genetic engineering is being utilized is a detriment to the human race. Harry's way was much much wiser.
An amazing article. Thank you! I’ve done most of the things on the waste-reduction list but you suggested a couple that I had not thought of yet. Thanks so much!
Hello Roman, allow me a question: from the presentation of the book: "This de-terraforming has accelerated at a breakneck pace as technology, globalism, and populations have exploded."
Do you think there are too many people on the planet? Do you think population number and growth should be "regulated" and how?
People need to be free from any government structures that force notions onto them. Governments have historically made horrible decisions, and even if their reasoning is sound and they implement something, it quickly becomes corrupted into something that was perhaps not originally intended. Thus, the decisions need to be made at the local level where it is best to decide these things. As an example, a place in a rural location in New England may want more people for whatever reason, and in India, they may want to begin to taper off because of excessive numbers of people. To make these decisions, it’s always wise to educate people so they can make better decisions. Again, this is something that needs to be decided locally and not through some large global body. Other local groups may decide to offer aid in education or other areas to impoverished groups. However, these large governmental or global systems always become corrupt and then cause more harm than good. If local communities make “mistakes,” then it is best to try to manage them and determine their own destinies. Nameless, faceless entities imposing their will might make those imposing their ideas famous or very wealthy, but the people being “helped” may end up worse.
Supplements and drugs are wrapped in plastics. Try non coated aspirin.
Aspirin goes back thousands of years originating from the bark of the willow tree. It was processed and manufactured at the end of the 19th century and was most popular in the first half of the 20th century.
Because of its cost of 5 cents a pill, alternatives were created and approved by the FDA, such as Tylenol, to maximize profits with this "less safe" substitute.
False studies were created to show lesions in the stomach and aspirin was labelled as dangerous.
Baby aspirin at 81 mg. then appeared to enhance this scare tactic, warning of the limited benefit for heart health by the FDA drug cartel.
Aspirin has been linked to a 50% reduction of cancer (Journal of Clinical Oncology, February 10, 2010) and a dozen other medical and inflammatory conditions such as arthritis, taken daily at 325 mg.
Ask your doctor if 5 cent aspirin is right for you. No prescription required
Although there is likely a real pollution problem in the form of (micro)plastics, keep in mind that this too nicely fits into the climate propaganda, just like the overpopulation myth and the biodiversity (eugenics) scam.

I thank her for my inheritence.

That's capitalism for you.
'Aim plastic' is an anagram of 'capitalism'.

Excellent information. Hemp is a great alternative for so many things!
I use cardboard boxes instead of plastic shopping bags. they last for years and it is easier and your food doesn’t get squished.
Great tip!

My opinion…

I did not even know there was such a thing as non-coated aspirin. Thank you for the tip!
Why would you even take synthetic supplements or any medication?
